Strength & Conditioning Brussels
About
Phys Ed is a strength and conditioning gym in Anderlecht, Brussels. We run small
group classes and personal training for adults who want to get stronger, move
better, and train without pain.
The gym is built around coached sessions. Every class is led start to finish, so
you are told exactly what to do, how to do it, and how to progress. No programme
to figure out on your own, no equipment you do not know how to use.
Members range from complete beginners to competitive athletes. Most people who
walk in have either never trained seriously before, are coming back after time
off or injury, or have outgrown a commercial gym where nobody coached them.

Class Types
TRAIN — The main class and where most new members start. A mix of strength
training, conditioning, and skill work. Builds strength, improves mobility, and
teaches you how to lift properly. Runs multiple times every weekday.
ENDURANCE — Cardio intervals combined with functional training. Built for
building an engine. This is the class to take if you are training for Hyrox or
want your conditioning to catch up with your strength.
MOVE + MOBILITY — Stretching, mobility, and coordination work. Aimed at
pain, stiffness, restricted range of motion, and left-right imbalances. Useful
if you sit at a desk all day or have a nagging injury.
OPEN GYM — Unsupervised access to train your own programme during off-peak
hours. Included with membership.

Coaching
Sandy Williams — Head Coach
Sandy spent 25 years as a professional dancer and choreographer, most of it with
Rosas, the contemporary dance company led by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, touring
internationally. He holds a degree in Kinesiology and has coached for more than
ten years.
His specialisms are strength and conditioning, injury prevention, CrossFit, and
performance work with both amateur and professional athletes. The training
approach comes out of that combination: elite movement background plus sports
science, applied to people who want a body that works.

What Makes Us Different
Most gyms sell you access. Phys Ed sells you coaching. Every group session is
led by a coach who demonstrates each movement, scales it to the person in front
of them, and corrects it in real time.
The training is built around what your body can do rather than how it looks.
That means mobility and injury prevention get the same weight as strength
numbers. The point is a body you can rely on in twenty years, not a peak you
hit once.
Group sizes stay small deliberately. A class where the coach cannot see everyone
is a room where people get hurt.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a gym membership cost in Brussels at Phys Ed?
Unlimited memberships run from 120€ per month on a 12-month plan up to 155€ per
month with no commitment. Students pay 100€ per month. If you do not want a
membership, single classes are 25€, or 18€ each in a 10-class pack.
Do I need experience to start?
No. Most new members have never done structured strength training. Every class
is scaled to the individual, and coaches demonstrate and correct each movement.
The free intro class exists so you can see this for yourself before paying.
What happens in my first class?
You start with a full warm-up, then move into the strength and conditioning
work. The coach explains and demonstrates every movement and gives you a version
that matches your level. You are not left to guess. Changing rooms and showers
are available.
Can I train if I have an injury or am coming back from one?
Yes, and a good share of our members are doing exactly that. Movements get
modified so you train around the injury rather than through it. If the injury is
significant, personal training gives you closer supervision than a group class.
Is Phys Ed good for Hyrox training?
Yes. The ENDURANCE class combines cardio intervals with functional training,
which is the specific demand Hyrox makes. Members training for Hyrox typically
combine ENDURANCE with TRAIN sessions.
Where is Phys Ed located?
Rue des Vétérinaires 47, 1070 Anderlecht, on the top floor of The Faculty. It is
in Cureghem, close to Saint-Gilles, Forest, and Brussels South.
What are your opening hours?
Classes run from 07:30 to 20:00 Monday to Friday, with Open Gym filling the
middle of the day. Saturday is 09:00 to 12:00. Closed Sunday.
Can I try Phys Ed before joining?
Yes. The intro class is free, requires no experience, and carries no obligation
to join. Book it at https://zcal.co/physed/introclass
What is the difference between the TRAIN, ENDURANCE, and MOVE + MOBILITY
classes?
TRAIN is the core class: strength, conditioning, and skill work, and where most
people start. ENDURANCE is conditioning-focused for building an engine and
preparing for Hyrox. MOVE + MOBILITY works on flexibility, coordination, and
resolving pain or imbalances.
How do I get there and where can I park?
PhysEd is on the 4th floor of The Faculty, Rue des Vétérinaires 47, a short walk from Brussels-Midi/Zuid station, which connects national and international trains with Metro lines 2 and 6. The nearest bus stop is Vétérinaires (line 78), right on our street. The nearest tram stop is Cureghem (line 81) — though it's currently replaced by a bus between Midi and Marius Renard while STIB carries out repairs near Gare du Midi, expected into 2027. If you're driving, there's paid street parking nearby, and cyclists are welcome to bring bikes inside — just let us know. Note that the building has no lift, so you'll need to take the stairs to the 4th floor.
Do you offer personal training?
Yes. Sessions are one-to-one and fully personalised around your level and goals.
It starts with a free no-sweat consultation, bookable at
https://zcal.co/physed/30min
Is there a couple or partner discount?
Yes. Two people at the same address on a 12-month membership pay 107.50€ each
per month instead of 120€, saving 300€ per year between them. Roommates do not
qualify.
Do you have showers?
Yes. Changing rooms and showers are on site, which makes training before work or
during a lunch break workable.
